Wanted to let you know that we had a wonderful time on Zanzibar. Weather was great with only a couple of drops per day (not even 3 minutes long) in die morning with the rest of the day sun shine en sea. Die beach en sea at Paje is unbelievable - especially during low tide when the sea is back for almost a km and you can then walk to the reef.
We did some tours as you recommended to Stone Town, the Safari Blue tour, Jozani Forest and also rented scooters to drive to the villages (Jambiani en Bwejuu).
Your people on Zanzibar was extremely professional en on time. Had no problems at all.

Many thanks for all your arrangements - only wished we could have stayed longer.

Hi Dawie,

It’s been nearly 2 months since our departure to Zanzibar and I haven’t written you to tell you what a marvelous time we had. The landing was quite an experience an not the mention the heat as you walk off the plan. Then you walk into the arrivals terminal and your eyes are wide open. Luckily I had done a lot of research on Zanzibar and new that there was no carrousel. Once our luggage finally arrived we walked outside to this sea of drivers. My husband spotted our names quickly and Shafie drove us to Kilima Kidogo.
We arrived with a warm welcome from Mark, Dina, Joey and the staff of Kilima Kidogo. Our room was fantastic. Very spacious and clean and a lovely sea view. After settling in we spent the rest of the day relaxing on the beach. For dinner we indulged in the Seafood platter for two………amazing.
We decided that we would space our activities with one days break of relaxing on the beach, reading books, playing pool and card games an basically anything that required as little energy as possible. The activities we chose to do were Spice Tour, Stone Town, Sunset cruise, Swimming with the dolphins and Safari Blue. All incredible experiences.

Zanzibar is now but a distant memory. But a great memory it will always be. Thank you again for the sterling service you provided us.

I LOVE travelling. Unfortunately, our ability to go for too long is a bit curtailed at the moment because we’ve got 2 young kids (15 months and 3 years). So I think Russia this year is not an option. I’ll ask you again in a few years’ time. We are very keen to climb Kili – maybe next year, depending on how long we would need to be away and how willing my parents are to babysit! I’ll definitely let you know when we are ready to go. What’s the best time of year for that?

Thank you both so much for organizing a perfect honeymoon! The trip was perfect and we would not have changed a single moment (except for the sea-sickness while snorkeling!). The accommodation was comfortable and perfectly located on the northern tip of the island, allowing us to watch sunrise and sunset. The hotel staff were great, the food was delicious (pancakes for breakfast!) and transport to/from the airport was stress-free. We had an amazing time!

Dear Rose,

I am sorry for only sending you an email now, I have been meaning to say hi (and thank you) since my return from Zanzibar but coming back to work, having to face reality and winter in the UK after the lovely African sun - is a massive shock to the system! For the first time in a month I am able to see the surface of my table as the pile of paperwork is slowly fading away (along with my nice tan!).

Thank you so much for an absolutely fantastic holiday – it would definitely not have been possible without you and your constant patience when the details kept changing. The places we stayed at were fabulous, the little extras you arranged were lovely and most thoughtful, all the people extremely helpful and very friendly. I can honestly say that this holiday was one of my favourites to date!

We did as many tours as we could possibly squeeze in (even doing the ‘Spice Tour’ twice) my favourites include swimming with dolphins (getting completely sunburnt in the process), seeing Colobus monkeys in the Jozani Forest, taking a donkey cart ride on the ‘Princess Salme Tour’ and feeding giant tortoises on Prison Island, but of course the cherry on the cake had to be the opportunity to spend both our birthdays together in paradise and sharing many laughs with my mom along the way. Zanzibar is a magical place and I will definitely be returning soon!

I have attached two photos (both taken on the Princes Salme Tour – you should really recommend the tour to anybody heading to Zanzibar) I wish I could send you more photos but I’m afraid you would get rather bored and start blocking all emails from me!

Dear Rose

Our holiday was everything that we had hoped for. Chumbe Island Coral Park was definitely the highlight, however, Stonetown and the selected hotels were great. I enjoyed Tembo on the beachfront and its position, Briony preferred the friendliness of Dhow Palace.

I still enjoy Nungwi and its position along the coast, nearness to the local village and other resorts in the area. Briony spent many late hours and sunrises at the nearby beach pub, meeting other tourists and operators.

We did the tour of Stonetown and the Spice Tour, with snorkeling and Mangrove forest walk at Chumbe. Also viewed the sunset from the lighthouse in Chumbe (and I forgot my fear of heights until it was too late!).

The greatest cuisine was experienced in Chumbe, although we tried various interesting places in Stonetown. We did a lot of walking and became very aware that there are no elevators in Stonetown - most of the restaurants were on the rooftops!

Hi Dawie,

We just wanted to thank you for arranging everything, It was done very professionally and we had absolutely no hassles, the flights the accommodation everything was perfect. Our Time in Zanzibar was most memorable and we will definitely visit those beautiful shores again. We went to Stone Town, The Spice Tours and the most memorable experience was the snorkelling and Tuna Braai.
The night life at the local beach bar was really enjoyable and we met with very interesting Zanzibar folk !
The common phrase there is “Acuna Matata” means no worries . You can really see how the folk there are so relaxed and happy.
The people are absolutely friendly and the Beach Resort in Nungwi village was really top class , The air conditioned rooms and cleanliness of the resort was well noted !! The peace and tranquillity was just what we needed after the Wedding. All the stress and tiredness just fell away as soon as we reached the white sands and the clear blue waters.
The manager Mr Laurence and the Food and Beverage manager Babu made us feel so welcome and comfortable ! hats off to them!! The Food was delicious and the Service was excellent! Great service from Island Express as well.

We will definlty use your services again. We thinking of a return trip for our 1 year.

Ocean Paradise was everything you told me and more. I specifically enjoyed their hospitality, the resort and the great food.

Thanks for organising our trip to Zanzibar, we had a really great time. Zanzibar was beautifull, relaxing and interesting. I'm glad we stayed on the South East side of the Island as we got to meet the locals and it felt more real. We hired a motorbike from the receptionist at Coral Rock for a day and rode right around the whole Island (About 250 kms) I wanted to see Nungwi and the North side, it was beautiful, but I think where we were had more character, even though I'm sure the rooms would have been more luxurious!

Just a short letter to thank you for all my travel arrangements to Kilimanjaro. I summated at 06h05 on 15 Sept 2008. We had 2 wonderful guides with us and if not for their assistance I might have turned around before the summit.
Despite the hike being very difficult for us, every day we where in good spirit and laughed allot. They are great people and it was a blessing for me to have done Kili with them.
Well Kili has now been done and I really appreciate all your help. Listening to the other hikers on Kilimanjaro with about the experience they had with there travel operators, then we had a very good deal and support from you. The time I send with you before the trip was extremely valuable and I was definitely much better prepared for the trip.
I know that at the end of the day it is your work, but I see no reason why not to still thank you. I will definitely recommend you were I can.

I would just like to add to Damien’s email, the trip was amazing everything was very well put together, the hotel in Moshi was an oasis in the middle of nowhere.
The porters, guides and chef were fantastic I didn’t expect to sleep and eat so well on a mountain!
Another surprise also awaited me on the mountain. Craig proposed to me at Stella point… so we are officially engaged. This will be a trip that stays close to our hearts always.
Zanzibar was also superb, we loved the time out, to recover and spoil ourselves with massages, cocktails and some splendid dives.
We have already recommened you guys to a few friends and family interested in following in our foot steps and conquering the mountain.
So thank you for all your hard work, it all happened so quickly it’s sad to see it’s over but it was fantastic thanks again !

I hope you are well. I would like to add to Damien’s email and extend our thanks and gratitude for such a flawless and perfectly organized trip. Kilimanjaro is challenging enough without having to worry about flights, transfers, food, visa’s etc… that come along with holidays and your organization skills proved to be outstanding!! Personally speaking Kilimanjaro was the most rewarding thing I have ever done, it was extremely difficult and humbling. Abdi (Simba) our guide and his team were FANTASTIC and they really are the true hero’s of Kilimanjaro – without them I don’t think I could have made it.
I am also really delighted how you joined our group with Damien’s – we have made friends for life. They were a huge part of my energy up the mountain and I really felt that they looked out for Scott and I as if they had known us for years – it was certainly not about getting yourself up it was team work! Thanks guys!!!!
Zanzibar was the perfect end to a perfect holiday. Kilima Kidigo was BEAUTIFUL and the service was outstanding, 1st class!!
As Damien said it will take a lot to beat this trip and I think it will live in our hearts forever. Scott and I are keen to do the safari tour next year so you will definitely hear from us soon to book that one!

We all summated, check the pix……….. I must say from my side and I think all will agree, the whole trip was 100% perfectly organized, it simply ran like clockwork, so a huge thanks to yourself.
From my side, this experience will stand ahead of all for some time in my life, it’s really going to take a lot to top this one, especially after having not much else on my mind for the 10 or so months leading up to Kili, with all the preparation and “training” and then finally bearing the fruit and fulfilling that goal.

Kilimanjaro , 4.50am Sat 19.07.08.
To all of you lost souls still supporting teams other than the ' Bulls ' , by the way I hear sharks lost to Valke , WP lost to Valke , shame ..
For the record , we left Barafu camp at 23h15 , I summitted at Uhuru 04.50 am , first to the top at 5h35min , was back down at Barafu camp at 06h45 am.
Total time up and down 7h30min. We experinced an approx - 20 celcius on the peak , very cold.I really did not stick around and took 4 photos and shot down.It also was dark when I reached the top but even if it wasn't I doubt I would of taken too many photos in any case.
I beat a few foreign youngsters to the top ,Blue Bull blood , 'Liefling' tops as always.
Thea summitted at 06.15am , brilliant given the fact the altitude sickness was hammering her.Very strong mind.
All in all a wonderful experience , a lot tougher than I imagined. The climb to Stella point on the final day is the toughest yet done and that really sorts everybody out properly.

Dear Dawie,

I am sitting here in George in the freezing cold, looking at my holiday washing hanging outside been rained upon and am so homesick for the Kilimakidogo House, you cannot believe!
Dawie, I just want to let you know that I had the Happiest Holiday of my 60 years!   It is the first time in 15 years that I have had my entire family altogether on holiday, I have always had a superstition of only taking two or three with me somewhere, never the whole caboodle!    Apart from wanting to have a wonderfull carefree holiday to celebrate with my family, it has been also a momentous occasion which we unbeknown now realise, will probably the only and last time we will holiday together!   The possibility is very slim that we will ever manage to take time off and get together again as shortly the family splits up all over the world!!!   Two immigrate to New Zealand and four to Tasmania.
We will never forget the wonderfull holiday that we all had in Zanzibar and all agreed after travelling the length and breadth of Zanzibar, that we stayed in the most perfect place, in the most accommodating house, which suited all our family needs.   After each exciting excursion, we were so glad to go "home" to Kilimakidogo, where our comfort, meals and well being was catered to in excess!
To put 11 people together for 10 days, each having totally different personalities, like oil and water, chalk and cheese, only a setting like Kilimakidogo could have pulled it off!   Everyone soon settled into the very different way of life and we had the most frank conversations and amicably sorted out what we wanted to do and not, what we wanted to eat at meals, what excursions, etc. we wanted to do.   Only the type of atmosphere we were in could have pulled such a holiday off without fur and feathers flying!   We bonded and accepted all our differences and had the greatest time of our lives!
The phone calls, sms"s, messages and feed back I have been having from everyone just echo's all what I have said!   I and my family are most grateful to you and Joey and Dina, Mark and the Kilimakidogo Staff for giving us this opportunity to make such a memorable holiday!
I could carry on and on forever, but just to let you know, if you have any inquiries or hesitant clients, you can give me as a reference any day!   I have an idea that I shall return there again one day in the future for a holiday!   From now on I shall be travelling doing "family duty" visits all over the world and "friend" visits, but there will come the times that I want just time for myself and I hope to find someone to go over and share a "my" time with!

I must be honest, it was the most relaxed bunch of peolple that I have met in a long time. No rush, no stress and they have respeck for each other and other people.
The last time I had this expereince and lexed so much was in Mosambique with no shops in the erea. I also think that there is no such thign as bad food here, every meal was a festival of vlavour, not even to mention the FRESH PRAWNS.
It was great.

A couple of Italians standing on top of Africa’s highest point (Uhuru Peak 5895m). Also a picture of Mawenzi (5150m) at sunrise taken from the summit as well as a picture of Kibo taken from Karanga camp (3900m).
An awesome experience which takes you out of your comfort zone and a trip which I highly recommend undertaking to anyone interested. Enjoy the pictures!

I apologise for the wait, but unfortunately once you get back from a beautiful place like Karafuu Zanzibar it is very hard to get back in to normal life.
I would just like to thank you from the bottom of our hearts for all the organising, for making our wedding week the most memorable and special holiday ever. When we arrived in Zanzibar on the 14^th October we had no idea what to expect, one thing is for sure, we did not expect the extraordinary service and a fairy tale holiday like we had at Karafuu. Everyone from all our family and friends had a wonderful time.
Then over and above the exceptional service and friendly smiles we encountered at the resort, between you and Karafuu, still managed to make our Fairy Tale wedding come true. I climbed out of the taxi onto the beach and saw that magnificent sunset over the sea; I knew I could have never asked for more. From the venue on the beach to the venue at the Al Carte restaurant, we were not disappointed. The food was excellent, the band had us rocking and the atmosphere with the beach and the gentle breeze behind us made it unforgettable.
We already had a couple of our friends and family saying that they would like to go back again next year. So that goes to show you just how brilliant Karafuu Beach Resort is.
Thank you, thank you, thank you…. And that still isn’t enough. Words cannot describe how wonderful our holiday was.

The trip was absolutely amazing, we loved every bit of it. Thank you very much for arranging everything!!!! All the pick-ups and drop off's went smoothly as did all the accommodation arrangements etc.
The hike up Kilimanjaro was also very enjoyable but that last day was so tough but we made it to the summit.
The 1st 3 days were tough because it rained for the majority of the time so we actually only got to see the sun for the 1st time on day 4 on the way to Kibo huts and it was also the 1st time we actually got to see the 2 summits of Kilimanjaro.
I think we made it largely because of the guides which we had. Our guides name was Joseph and he was brilliant from day 1 in setting the pace or advising us on what to wear and briefing us daily on the current day and next day and making sure we were drinking our water and generally being very pleasant and helpful.
But more so than that, on summit day- he really showed his experience, Hunadi got ill just before we reached Gillmans, she vomited and he assured us that it wasn't a crisis and we continued "pole pole" and didn't take long breaks when we stopped to rest and before we knew it we were at Uhuru Peak. I think we made it largely thanks to our 2 guides(not forgetting the rest of the team) and also because we had really good equipment. The food was also so much better than we expected.
Zanzibar after the hike is just what the doctor ordered. Your representative were very professional and extremely punctual for all the pick ups and for all the guided tours they did. Thanks for that!!!!
The weather was absolutely brilliant, we spent the 1st day at Mnarani lazing around and just relaxing by the beautiful beach. The Mnarani cottage which we stayed in was spot on. We stayed in one of the deluxe house rooms and the hammock on the balcony is just bliss.
We arranged the spice tour, tour of Stone town, trip to prison island and sunset cruise. They did a great job in transporting us and in giving us guides who were very knowledgeable and experienced. The only problem we had was that our trip to prison island was cut very short as we had a sunset cruise in the evening and the trip to prison island only started at 4pm but we were compensated for this by only paying half the price.
Zanzibar felt like a honeymoon, it is such a lovely holiday spot and the people were so friendly through the whole island. We were treated very well and everyone took so well to our attempts at Swahili.
Thanks again for arranging everything. It was such a pleasure not having to worry about anything and just enjoying the trip.

The trip was amazing! We will definitely be going back again! The accommodation and service we received was great. I definitely recommend Chumbe Island to anyone going to Zanzibar, the snorkeling was amazing, and the service from the staff made the stay the most memorable. The transfers and day trips organised were brilliant and the tour guides were extremely well informed (One of them, George seemed to know something about everything!).

Dawie, my wife and I would like to thank you for the great package you arranged for us in Zanzibar.
It was a wonderful experience to see the country and all the lovely beaches. I can really recommend you and Zanzibar for someone that is interested in a beach holiday at a very reasonable rate. We went on all the tours but one I can really recommend is the safari blue tour where you go out on a dhow for a day and enjoy snorkeling and seafood at one of the Islands.
