Mnarani Beach Cottages is located on the northernmost tip of Zanzibar Island in the Village of Nungwi.  Mnarani Beach Cottages is next to the old lighthouse, and the word “ Mnarani” means lighthouse in Swahili.

Mnarani Beach Cottages offers a variety of room options, from the Standard entry level rooms – perfect for couple or friends travelling on a limited budget, to rooms for honeymooners in the deluxe rooms or the Superior rooms or the Mahaba Cottage – Honeymoon suite.  Mnarani also caters for families in the Family Flats or deluxe rooms or the Superior rooms.

Mnarani Beach Cottages has twelve standard cottage rooms, which are arranged in pairs. The standard cottages are simple, but nevertheless private and comfortable. They are decorated in local Zanzibarian style and have an en-suite bathroom with hot and cold water and veranda. All rooms have mosquito nets, fans and air conditioning. Eight are located along the sea front with views to the ocean, and four are within the lush calm of the tropical garden.

Zanzibar house - 10 x Deluxe Rooms at Mnarani Beach Cottages 

The ten rooms in Zanzibar House are all named after the islands and islets of the Zanzibar archipelago such as “Tumbatu room” and “Bawe room”. They offer superb accommodation, with a little extra luxury.

All rooms have high-standard en-suite bathrooms. The rooms are a spacious twenty-five square meters; all fully air conditioned, with telephone, fridges and a tea/coffee station for your convenience.

Each room opens onto a beautiful large wooden balcony for the enjoyment of sunrises in the morning, relaxation in the afternoon, and starry skies at night.

For those wanting to share their holiday experience with family or friends, the ground floor rooms (The Pemba, Unguja, Mnemba and Misali rooms) offer the option of adjoining rooms for groups.

The first floor rooms (The Tumbatu, Kojani, Bawe and Chumbe rooms) boast the same large space with a higher view of the surrounding sea.

The two Top floor rooms, “Sunrise” and “Sunset”, are specially designed for honeymoon couples and offer awe-inspiring sunrises and sunsets almost every day of the year. These rooms are fully decked with wooden floors; the bedrooms open onto a balcony with a breathtaking sight: the stunning azure waters of the Indian Ocean, with traditional dhows sailing past. You can almost hear the dhows splashing in the water while relaxing in the comfort of your own bathtub. In addition, you can have a massage on your own balcony by our lady masseuses.

The spectacular roof top terrace allows you to sit under the phenomenal night skies of tropical Zanzibar and enjoy the peace and tranquility with a three hundred and sixty degree view of the north tip of the island.

4 x Superior Rooms at Mnarani Beach Cottages

Mnarani Beach Cottages has four “Superior Rooms” that are more spacious than our standard rooms. With a sitting room on the ground floor and bedroom upstairs, they are perfect for couples who would like a little more space and comfort. All are en-suite with hot and cold water and two of them have an adjoining door for extended families or groups.

Each room enjoys an open plan ground floor with sitting area, a small kitchen with a sink and fridge, and coffee/tea making facilities, whilst on the first floor mezzanine is the sleeping area with a large double bedroom. Each cottage is decorated in local style using furniture designed from refashioned ngalawa.

4 x Family Garden flats at Mnarani Beach Cottges

Fisherman House, after much demand from guests, is self-contained accommodation in which you can be totally independent if you so wish. It is located in our garden view area, only 60 metres from the beach. Fisherman House was built with the idea of creating comfortable accommodation for our guests who travel with a big family or in a large group – for example a wedding party.

Each flat is named after fish from the Indian Ocean.

The ground floor has two flats, "Dorado" and "Tuna", each with two master bedrooms. Each bedroom is 16 sq meters, which is big enough to put an extra bed if needed. There is an additional big dining area and kitchen with all amenities. All the furniture is made of coconut wood traditionally grown in Zanzibar.

The second floor has two flats, "Octopus" and "Dolphin", each with three master bedrooms of similar size. All flats have connecting doors for families who want to share the space. They all have balconies. Each flat has air conditioning, as well as fans, telephones and CD players.

On the top of the house there is beautiful open space where you can sunbathe, have a barbeque or celebrate a special birthday or anniversary. The view is stunning and faces sunset and the sea.

There is private parking and you will have access to all the facilities of the hotel including the swimming pool and sauna.
